The 1979 Bronco “Bogger”
The Bronco started off being a donor. I originally had a 81 Bronco that was rusting apart. You may see some pics of that truck around the gallery here. I found the 79 out on an acreage in the springbank area. I think it was from a Ford truck collector or something if I remember correctly. It started off small, with the original motor and a mild lift for some 35’s. Spray bombed black after wheeling in it with the crazy mis-matching body panels a few times. Over a very short time, and with the building expertise of the guys at Modern Motors (mostly Travis!) in Calgary, it was quickly brought up to my own dreams of what I wanted it to be. Here is a list of how it turned out. It’s a mouthful!
Performance rebuilt bored and balanced big block 460 by a monster truck mechanic in Edmonton. Full Edelbrock treatment. RPM Intake, 750 Carb, valve covers, cam, double roller timing chain. MSD offroad Coil and ignition. DUAL Optima Batteries. Headers. Motor Chained down to frame. Approx 500 HP and 600FtPnds torque. Heavy Duty rebuilt C6 Auto with HD NP205 to custom drive shafts with 1350 u-joints all around. Front Dana 60 axle with powerlok locker, Rear GM 14 Bolt axle with Detroit locker. 5:13 gears in both. Disc brakes all around. Custom Suspension to run coils on the front Dana 60. Lift is about 18 inches suspension and 3 inches body. 44″ Super Swamper Boggers on custom fabricated 16.5 bead-lock rims. Rock Ram Hydro Assist for easy steering. Rancho 9000 adjustable shocks on all four corners. Custom front and rear bumpers BOTH have a WARN 12,000 pound winch. The front also has two high power IPF lights. Custom anti-wheel wrap ladder bars mounted to custom shackle mounts for the rear 14bolt, and custom made extended radius arms for the front for increased articulation on both sides. New diamond plate panels inside. Full Six Point Cage front to back. Two five point harnessed aqua (waterproof) bestop bucket seats up front, and two behind. Completely new body and paint. Cut out fender flairs, New floorboards welded in, and spray in bed-liner installed throughout for super easy cleaning. Full length Specialized tops Convertible Soft top with tinted windows and three sided roll up ability. (Sun shade still on top with sides open) 40 second anti shock cd deck with alpine speakers in doors, two outdoor speakers mounted to rear roll bar behind rear seats, and two amps in the tailgate. 12″ Sub in custom made removeable box goes in back.
